ONE STILL STANDING | 23/03/19

On Saturday 23rd March, The Albion opened its doors to pop-punk and metalcore fans for

the first time ever, ready to welcome recently formed band “One Still Standing” and

supports to the stage. It was a brilliant gig and I’m here to recap on the highlights of

Saturday night.

LONG WAY HOME

Leicester based pop-punk band, Long Way Home started the night with both original

material and covers. Sam White (vocals) showed some amazing skills, his rich tones, good

range and confident performance was the highlight of the set. Chris Bramley (lead guitar)

did a brilliant job and is a great guitarist. Showing off skills from all over the spectrum and

displaying that he can in fact nail the easier riffs as much as he can the more challenging

stuff. The crowd involvement was really good, but I noticed there was a slight lack of energy

from the band, whilst performing and in between songs. However I do appreciate that it’s

hard to engage a crowd when you’re first of the night, and I give Long Way Home kudos for

delivering a great set.

NEW AGE GRACE

Alternative rock four-piece, New Age Grace were second on the bill for Saturday night. I was blown away by Amy Louise’s skill. Her vocal talent is truly something to be envious of and it ties the band together. Her ability to involve the crowd was top and went hand in hand with her confidence on stage. All band members were high energy and really did give it their all.

As if that wasn’t enough to get you excited about this band, their writing skills are brilliant

and it’s clear that these guys know how to write an effective song. I give New Age Grace top

marks for their set and hope to see them perform again soon.

A HOUSE DIVIDED

Progressive metal band, A House Divided absolutely stormed the stage. They were certainly one of the best bands of the night. I was particularly impressed by leading lady, Chloe Manders and her vocal abilities. The stage presence each member had made for a great atmosphere and you could tell they enjoyed performing.

Their energy on stage was so infectious, that the crowd soon begun moshing and getting involved. A House Divided were one of my personal favourites on Saturday night and I’m really excited to hopefully see them perform again in the future.

ONE STILL STANDING

Headliner of the night, One Still Standing took to the stage at around 9:45pm and it was well

worth the wait! The Leicester based Metalcore band have had a recent release named

“Matilda” (which is now available to stream on Spotify) and have over 70 monthly listeners

and more than 2,000 streams on the single. Their second digital release “Little Miss

Arrogant” is well on the way to arriving to all major streaming platforms.

Although they’re a relatively new band, it’s clear that these guys know what they’re doing.

Their songs are cutting edge, hard-hitting and kept the audience stimulated for the entire 45

minute set (the crowd pictures don’t quite do justice!).

The atmosphere these guys made was incredible, special mentions to Owen Trott (guitar) for a faultless set, he also made a conscious effort to involve the crowd and get himself involved. The band’s physical performance was just as interesting to watch as their musical performance, One Still Standing know how to rock a stage and they definitely used the space to their advantage, the sheer passion and energy seen in their set was great.

As if this wasn’t enough of a selling point for you – the band recently reached the final of “Bring The Chaos”, a local band competition offering an array of recording and performance prizes to successful bands. You should check out One Still Standing on Spotify and catch them at various events around Leicester (and wider areas!) in the future!
